By Texas Governor Greg Abbott is clashing with some of his conservative base. He’s rallying support for a proposed billion-dollar water infrastructure fund that’s on the ballot Tuesday. That, though, is facing pushback from grassroots groups like the Texas Eagle Forum. They’re asking voters to reject the proposition, saying it’s an invitation for abuse. They argue that infrastructure projects should be funded on an “as-needed basis” to provide “transparency, oversight, and accountability.”
