White House Acknowledges July 4th Vax Goal Will Likely Fall Short

The White House COVID response team is acknowledging the big 4th of July vaccination goal will likely fall short. President Biden has said he wants to see 70-percent of all American adults with at least one shot by the upcoming holiday.

COVID coordinator Jeff Zients told reporters that falling short of the July 4th goal should not undermine the enormous progress that has been made over the past few months. He said 70-percent of U.S. adults, 30-and-above, have received at least one vaccination shot. Zients called it a remarkable achievement.

Zients said there’s more work to do to encourage 18-26 year olds to get vaccinated. He also noted the national vaccination program will not end after the 4th of July.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said unvaccinated Americans remain at-risk and sounded another warning about the rise of the deadly Delta variant. Variants are virus mutations. The N-I-H veteran said approved vaccines in the U.S. are effective against the Delta variant.
