A team of experts from the World Health Organization say they’ve found no evidence of the coronavirus or genetically similar viruses in samples of wildlife from Wuhan, China.

The team has been investigating the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic in the city where the outbreak was first detected. The experts also came to the conclusion that there was “no substantial circulation of COVID in Wuhan before the late 2019 outbreak.” That outbreak would go on to explode into a global pandemic, one that’s led to nearly 107-million cases worldwide and over two-point-three million deaths. Of those, an estimated 465-thousand deaths have been recorded here in the United States.
