A Winter Storm Watch from the National Weather Service will be in effect for a large part of the state from noon on Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday.

An arctic weather system will move across the state on Friday, bringing hazardous temperatures and freezing rain and sleet.

An area stretching from San Angelo to Waco and the DFW metroplex is expecting heavy freezing precipitation, with even higher amounts in East Texas along I-20 into Louisiana. Wind chills are expected in the single digits and teens Saturday night. The cold temps will linger till Monday.
