Harris County deputies are investigating the death of a nine-year-old girl whose mother reportedly left her inside a hot car on Tuesday.
Deputies arrived after 2 p.m. at the USG Corporation parking lot on Mayo Shell Road in Galena Park. Investigators say the mother left the girl unattended inside the car while she went to work at 6 a.m. She found the girl unresponsive that afternoon.
The child was pronounced dead at LBJ Hospital. Deputies detained the mother at the scene, and charges are likely to be pending.
