Dozens of Texas democrats have left the state in opposition to a GOP-led redistricting plan. One of them is San Antonio State Representative Barbara Gervin-Hawkins, who heads the Legislative Black Caucus. She says it’s “wrong” and they won’t stand by and let it happen.
The democrats are in California and Illinois, where they will be meeting with sympathetic politicians.
