An air traffic controller shortage is being blamed for massive flight delays nationwide. There’s now a plan to fix that in Texas.

The Austin City Council has given the thumbs-up to the creation an air traffic controller academy. It would be a partnership with the Austin Community College.

The latest numbers from the FAA show that Austin’s airport is currently operating with just 29 of the 60 certified air traffic controllers needed in the tower.
