The state Legislature wants answers about how local officials responded to the July 4th flash floods that killed more than 130 people in Central Texas.
In a testy public hearing in Kerrville on Thursday, lawmakers asked Kerr County and river authority officials about their initial response to the floods. Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly and Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator William Thomas both said they were asleep at the time.
Flood relief is one of the priorities the Texas Legislature is discussing in the current 30-day special session.
