A relatively new Texas law that limits how much cities can raise their property taxes is getting it’s real first test. This is in Austin, where a lawsuit claims the ballot language is misleading voters.

Attorney Bill Aleshire claims the Austin city council is trying to trick voters into approving a “forever tax increase,” which is illegal under the law. This lawsuit comes as the Texas Legislature takes up property tax reform as part of a second special session.
