Travelers faced chaotic conditions at a number of airports out West on Monday. While lifted now, a ground stop at Los Angeles International Airport was expected to have significant lingering impacts on national and international airlines.
Flights were also halted for a time at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport after a massive dust storm rolled through the area. Wind gusts reached 70 miles per hour at the airport, where part of one terminal’s roof was damaged. The monsoon storm also brought heavy downpours, hail and power outages.
