OpenAI is being sued by a California couple who accuse ChatGPT of helping their teenage son to commit suicide. The lawsuit filed Tuesday claims the chatbot helped 16-year-old Adam Raine to explore suicide methods and helped him write the first draft of his suicide note.

The 40-page lawsuit names OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman as defendants, and accuses them of wrongful death, design defects and failure to warn of the risks associated with ChatGPT.
