Federal officials are investigating the crash of a small plane at Hooks Airport in Spring that killed two people on Sunday.

The crash was reported shortly after noon at the airport on Stuebner Airline Road at FM 2920. Officials say a twin-engine Cessna had mechanical trouble during takeoff and crashed when the pilot circled back for a landing.

The pilot and passenger, described as an elderly man and woman, died at the scene. Their names haven’t been released. The FAA and the NTSB will investigate the cause of the crash.
