Virginia and Texas are in a tug of war over the Space Shuttle Discovery. Virginia Democratic Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine want the Senate Appropriations Committee to block any attempt to move the shuttle from the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum to Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The senators say the move would be costly and may damage the spacecraft. Their letter is in response to calls from Texas Republican Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz for NASA to relocate Discovery to “its rightful home” in Houston, the site of Mission Control. The final decision lies with Congress.
