San Antonio police officers are providing after-hours security at the home of Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, and have been doing so since August.
The extra measures took effect after a man reportedly threatened Jones in a social media post. Prior to the threat, the mayor reportedly asked for and received a ballistic vest not long after her election in June.
The police provide an executive security detail for mayors while they conduct city business. The overnight police detail is an unprecedented level of security for a San Antonio mayor.
