A South Texas bishop has been elected to a national leadership position. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops picked Bishop Daniel Flores as a vice president Tuesday. He’ll serve a three-year term, working alongside the conference’s newly elected president.

The Catholic Diocese of Brownsville congratulated Flores on social media and asked local members of the church to keep the bishop in their prayers.
