Texas is set to receive considerably less federal funding for improved broadband access than was originally expected. Two years ago, the Biden administration pledged 3.3 billion dollars for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program.
Texas has now been awarded nearly 1.3 billion dollars by the Trump administration. Community leaders in rural east Texas say they’re disappointed, because they weren’t sure even the larger amount was going to be enough. The US Census Bureau says seven million Texans lack Internet access.
