Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is making a tip line available for the public to report violations of the state’s “bathroom bill.” Senate Bill 8 requires people to use only public restrooms and similar facilities that are meant for their biological sex. If someone uses the wrong bathroom, the state punishes the institution, not the individual, with fines. People who encounter somebody in the wrong restroom can sue the institution involved. The law empowers Paxton’s office to enforce the law only after complaints are filed with an accused agency.
