The La Joya ISD Board of Trustees has approved a consolidation plan that will close four schools.

The board voted unanimously Wednesdday to close Benavides, Pena and Leo elementary schools, as well as Ann Richards Middle School. J.D. Salinas Middle School will become a career and technical education campus as part of the plan. The school district says the consolidation will save over 27-million dollars.
