US Senator John Cornyn is taking a few pokes at one of his challengers as the GOP primary approaches. Cornyn trails Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the polls, but is ahead of US Representative Wesley Hunt of Houston.

Cornyn is running for a fifth term in D-C, but will likely need to win a runoff to succeed. After voting for himself on Tuesday, the first day of early voting in the primary, Cornyn said the Democrats have been waiting for a candidate like Paxton to give them a chance to flip a Texas Senate seat.
