A big rig driver involved in the nation’s deadliest human smuggling case will have to wait a little longer to learn his fate.
Homero Zamorano was set to be sentenced Wednesday in San Antonio federal court but a key witness could not make it. The judge put the trial on hold, but did not say for how long.
Zamorano drove a tractor trailer, packed with people, from the Texas border town of Laredo to San Antonio. There was no air conditioning. Forty-seven adults and six children died from the heat.
