Northside ISD Superintendent John Craft says the district won’t focus on closing schools as a way to battle its budget shortfall.
The school board has brought the deficit down from nearly 108 million dollars to about 35 million without having to close any campuses. Northside is the San Antonio area’s largest school district, with about 98 thousand students.
Other districts have closed schools to deal with budget deficits or declining enrollment. Craft says Northside may consider closures at some point, but not just yet.
