Several local universities are among thousands nationwide that were affected by a cybersecurity breach on the digital classroom hub Canvas.
The University of the Incarnate Word, UTSA, and the Alamo Colleges District all confirmed they were affected by Thursday’s disruption. A hacking group called ShinyHunters reportedly left ransom notes on the homepages of college and university Canvas sites across the country.
The local schools are rescheduling assignments and exams and extending deadlines in response.
