A 78-million-dollar Lotto Texas jackpot has been claimed just days before the money would have been returned to the state.

A ticket purchased at Gordon’s Bait and Tackle in Brownsville matched the six numbers drawn on November 15th of last year. The money was claimed by a South Dakota company on May 8th, six days before the ticket was set to expire.

The ticket buyer chose the cash value option, reducing the jackpot amount to just under 44-million dollars before taxes.
