U.S. Senator John Cornyn is reversing his position and is supporting a temporary suspension of the federal gasoline tax.

On Monday, after President Donald Trump endorsed the idea, James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, agreed with him. Trump says he’ll move to suspend the tax of more than 18 cents a gallon to ease gas and diesel prices, which have risen since the start of the war on Iran in February.

Cornyn previously stated the idea wasn’t “really a solution.” The incumbent senator is facing a tough challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the GOP primary runoff.
