A 1.7-billion-dollar federal contract from U.S. Customs and Border Protection will fund construction of the border wall in the Big Bend area.

The contract was awarded May 11th, and is the largest contract in Texas related to building the border wall.

A spokesperson announced on Tuesday that the funding will pay for 17 miles of vehicle barriers and patrol roads, plus 205 additional miles of patrol roads and surveillance technology.
