A federal judge is dismissing a marriage fraud charge after investigators failed to collect sufficient evidence.
The McAllen judge dismissed the charge against Ana Karen Quintero Cardenas during a hearing Tuesday. She was arrested last week as part of a federal investigation into ties between local ropa usada businesses and a Mexican drug trafficking organization.
Investigators claimed her marriage was a sham conducted to allow Quintero Cardenas to stay in the U.S. The judge said the government didn’t have enough evidence to support their case.
