A federal judge has scheduled a hearing on Minnesota’s request to extradite an ICE agent currently in custody in South Texas.

Christian Castro was taken into custody in Cameron County in May after he was indicted on multiple charges for a January shooting in Minneapolis. The state of Minnesota recently sued Texas Governor Greg Abbott, demanding extradition and a restraining order to keep Castro in jail.

Brownsville U.S. District Court Judge Fernando Rodriguez set an in-person hearing on the case for next Tuesday. Cameron County Sheriff Manuel Trevino is expected to comment on the case later today.
