Convicted murderer Karmelo Anthony’s hearing for a new trial includes never-before-seen evidence.

The 19-year-old was sentenced to 35 years in prison this summer for fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in 2025.

Prosecutors told the judge on Thursday they struck a “gentleman’s agreement” with Anthony’s lawyers before the trial to exclude the evidence to avoid turning the trial into a racial tinderbox. Anthony is black and his victim was white.
