Governor Greg Abbott says the suspects in the death of a kayaker on Lake Grapevine should be executed. Daikerlyn Gonzalez was reportedly the driver of the jet ski that hit and killed 18-year-old Ava Moore, who was about to enlist in the Air Force. Gonzalez is charged with manslaughter.
Maikel Perozo reportedly drove Gonzalez away from the scene and is charged with hindering apprehension. Both suspects are illegal immigrants. Abbott posted a message on social media that said, “Welcome to Texas. Here’s your death penalty.” It’s not likely, since Texas only executes people for capital murder.
