No more data centers will be approved in Texas until regulatory agencies can audit proposed data centers that want to be connected to the state’s electric grid.

Governor Greg Abbott announced the moratorium on Monday. Abbott wants data center developers to provide the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas information on tax breaks they’ll receive, power generation and use, water use and cooling operations, reduction of impact on local residents, and ownership of each facility.
