By Austin-Bergstrom International Airport plans to add another 32 gates by the early 2030s. An ongoing five-billion-dollar airport expansion project had planned to build at least 20 new gates.
On Wednesday, Mayor Kirk Watson announced the exact number, which mainly resulted from a ten-year contract with major airlines that was signed recently.
A new concourse that’s still on the drawing board will house 26 of the new gates. It will be connected to the existing terminal by a tunnel.
