Banner Health is putting in a mask mandate at all of its facilities across six states. The major health care system said masks will be required starting today due to a rising number of flu cases.

However, patients will not be required to wear the masks in their rooms. Banner officials said the mask mandate is meant to protect everybody, especially the elderly, pregnant women, and children under the age of two.

Children under 13 must have an adult with them and are only allowed in public waiting areas and cafeterias. Banner operated facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, and Wyoming.
