Former Major League Baseball star Mark Teixeira is running for Congress in Texas. The self-described “lifelong conservative” is running for the 21st District, which stretches from San Antonio to Austin and includes a big part of the Texas Hill Country.

The district is currently represented by Republican Chip Roy, who has announced he will run to be the state’s next attorney general. Teixeira played for the Texas Rangers before finishing his career with the New York Yankees.
