A Brownsville woman is facing a life sentence after being convicted of capital murder. Adela Gonzalez Martinez was found dead in her apartment in 2020. She was the ex-wife of Jose Arnoldo Rodriguez, who pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Investigators said Cynthia Olvera conspired with her husband to hire two men to kill Martinez. She was found guilty of multiple charges yesterday, including capital murder and conspiracy to commit capital murder. She’ll be sentenced on those charges later today.
