U.S. Senator John Cornyn says Texas is set to receive 7.5 billion dollars from a federal fund to reimburse states for border security costs incurred during the Biden administration.
The Texas Republican says Governor Greg Abbott and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin negotiated the amount. The 13.5-billion-dollar state border reimbursement fund was created as part of last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Texas spent more than 11 billion dollars on border security through Abbott’s Operation Lone Star in the Biden era.
