Lawyers for a Weslaco family have been asked to respond to an emergency motion filed with the 13th Court of Appeals.
The family of Weslaco High School cheerleader Larissa Rodriguez is suing a beverage distributor following the teen’s death last year. They claim an energy drink handled by Glazer’s Beer and Beverage was responsible for her death.
Last week, a district court judge ruled against a motion to halt further action in the case due to a pending appeal. Attorneys representing Glazer’s Beer and Beverage are now trying to overturn that decision by filing an emergency motion with the Court of Appeals. Lawyers for the Rodriguez family have until 10 a.m. this morning to respond.
