By U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’s bill to regulate certain aspects of college sports is on hold after the Senate started its recess on Friday.
The Protect College Sports Act advanced out of the Senate Commerce Committee, which Cruz chairs, in June. It then stalled until picking up support last week from the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference. But the bill didn’t come up for a vote before the chamber adjourned at 4 a.m.
Senators may still pass the bill after they return to Capitol Hill after Labor Day.
