A Dallas ISD police officer is in the hospital after he was shot by a man he was trying to help in Northwest Dallas on Thursday morning.
Police from several agencies responded around 11 a.m. to the shooting in a Sam’s Club parking lot on the LBJ Freeway near Midway Road. Investigators say Officer Justin Jones was flagged by a man who was in a crisis on the freeway.
Jones took the man to the parking lot to get him out of danger, and the man shot him in the leg. Jones is in stable condition at Parkland Hospital, and the suspect is in custody.
