Deportation procedures are underway for a man who tried to evade ICE agents by hiding in a tree in April.

A federal judge released Raul Ical to ICE in a hearing on Thursday. Ical is a Guatemalan national who was already deported in 2013. ICE says he illegally reentered the US sometime after that.

In late April, Ical fled a traffic stop on San Antonio’s West Side. He bailed out of the car and climbed a tree in the back yard of a home near South Navidad and Hazel Streets. Ical hid in the tree for at least six hours before he was caught.
