This summer has been milder than normal and there’s been plenty of rain. Experts say the drought is not over, but it is getting better.

State Climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon says that, in April, two-third of the state was in a drought. That’s now down to less than 20-percent.

The rainfall rates, he says, are skewed this year. That July Fourth flood dropped six inches of rain.
