ExxonMobil plans to move its legal headquarters to the Houston area. The company announced on Tuesday that it was leaving New Jersey for the friendlier business environment of Texas.
The nation’s largest oil-producing company already runs its operations from the Houston suburb of Spring. The company’s shareholders will vote on whether to redomicile ExxonMobil at the annual meeting on May 27th.
The company’s legal home has been in New Jersey since 1882, when it was Standard Oil. No employees will be relocated.
