By More than six-million Texans are facing food insecurity as food banks report growing demand for assistance.
New data shows hunger statewide has increased eleven-percent, with children seeing the largest increase. One-in-four Texas children are now considered food insecure, while the Dallas-Fort Worth area has the fourth-highest number of people facing hunger among major U.S. metro areas.
North Texas food banks are also raising concerns that changes to federal SNAP benefits could put additional pressure on families and local food assistance programs.
