By Texas is opening a consumer protection investigation into major feminine hygiene brands. Attorney General Ken Paxton announced investigations this week into Tampax, Kotex and “clean” or “non-toxic” brands over whether they misled women about what’s inside their products.
The action follows a UC Berkeley study that detected measurable amounts of lead and arsenic in popular tampon brands. Paxton says the state has issued civil demands for internal safety and testing data. The state hasn’t accused anyone of breaking the law yet.
