Former Houston Food Insecurity Board Member Claims Camp Mystic Is White-Only

Mayor John Whitmire is condemning the comments of a former member of the Houston Food Insecurity Board about flood-stricken Camp Mystic.

Sade Perkins posted a TikTok video in which she described Camp Mystic as an all-white, white-only conservative Christian camp. Whitmire on Sunday said Perkins’ comments are deeply inappropriate, considering the deaths of a number of campers and the ongoing search for the missing.

Perkins’ term on the board expired in January, and Whitmire says he’s not going to reappoint her.
