Cartel members with ties to South Texas have been turned over to the U.S. government by Mexico. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas announced Thursday that Juan Pedro Saldivar-Farias and Ricardo Cortez-Mateos are now in custody.
Investigators say Sadivar-Farias was once a Los Zetas plaza boss in the Falcon Lake area. Cortez-Mateos is a former high-ranking member of the Gulf Cartel who was previously indicted in South Texas for drug trafficking. The men were among 37 fugitives turned over to the U.S. by Mexico earlier this week.
