Immigration and Customs Enforcement says it plans to open an immigration processing facility on San Antonio’s East Side next spring.

ICE acting director David Venturella advised San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones of the plan last week. He said the facility in a retrofitted warehouse will be able to house up to 15-hundred detainees at a time.

Mayor Jones had expressed her opposition to the facility earlier this year, and she repeated her stance in another letter to ICE on Thursday.
