Former State Representative Nate Schatzline is taking a new position as Governor Greg Abbott’s senior adviser on election integrity.
The Fort Worth Republican resigned from the Texas House on Thursday to accept the appointment. Unconfirmed media reports say Abbott has recently considered the two-term lawmaker as a potential choice for secretary of state, the top elections officer in Texas.
Secretary of State Jane Nelson announced a month ago she plans to step down in mid-July, prior to the November midterms.
