Inflation is on the rise. Consumer prices edged up more than expected in April. The Consumer Price Index released today by the Labor Department shows the annual inflation rate is at three-point-eight percent, up from three-point-three-percent in March. That’s the highest since May 2023. Not counting food and energy prices, the rate was two-point-eight percent for the year.
