Judge Denies Request To Throw Out Evidence In San Benito Officer Death

A Cameron County judge has denied a motion to suppress evidence in the trial of a man accused in the death of a San Benito police officer.

Investigators say Rogelio Martinez, Junior, shot and killed Lieutenant Milton Resendiz during a chase in Cameron County in 2023.

Defense attorneys asked the judge to throw out cell phone location evidence connected to their client last week, but the judge denied that motion.

Martinez is set to be tried for capital murder of a police officer and other charges on August 10th.
