(Mission, TX) — A judge has dismissed federal harboring charges against the manager of a South Texas restaurant. Juan Ramirez Cortez was detained last week at the Taco Ole location he manages in Mission. Federal investigators claim Cortez employed several people who are in the U.S. illegally, charging him with a felony and two misdemeanors. A magistrate judge dismissed the felony charge yesterday, though Cortez is still facing the two misdemeanor charges. A status hearing is scheduled for Friday.
